So don't panic and wait a few minutes longer to make sure that the update process was terminated. Up to now, I was sure that a knackered BIOS will not even boot a floppy (remember, it stands for Basic I/O System). Note: the BIOS manufacturer AWARD have been taken over in 1998 by his competitor PHOENIX. - First aid Attention: this Howto describes only a BIOS update according to standard, how it should work on most mainboards with AMI-BIOS, AWARD-BIOS or PHOENIX-BIOS. But now I learn that even with no video on the monitor, you can boot into DOS with a BIOS flash tool on the booting media! ROM /P /B /N /C /X this shows up I type AFUDOS MV43V007. But now that I upgraded to Intel Pentium 4 and had to change the jumpers to set FSB up to 533MHz the system wont boot up. Here it shows that I need to use AFUDOS with a Windows 98 bootable USB flash. But at the top in the tutorial link I get a software that created a Windows Millenium bootable flash. I want to update to the latest bios (mv43v007.zip).I've tried using F8 for the Step-by-Step boot, but that just lets thesystem rip through the test and config screens before stopping at a DOS command screen.I still don't get to see any informationdisplayed on those two screens.
